Reflection:
My Cubism Artwork
Hello, my name is Noor. This unit we learned about 'Identity' and how we express ourselves. We watched a TED-ED documentary on identity. It explained no matter how old you get or if you change your hair or your body you will still have the same identity. Afterwards, we looked into Pablo Picasso. Pablo Picasso is a Spanish artist and we were part of the art movement Cubism. It is called Cubism because the items represented in the artworks look like they are made out of cubes and other geometrical shapes. We observed many art pieces by Pablo Picasso that were cubism and got inspired to make a self-portrait of our selves. We drew the self-portraits with as many unusual shapes and colors to make it cubism. The colors I chose for my artwork, in my personal opinion symbolize happiness and joy. They are also some of my favorite colors. As I said in the beginning of my reflection the style we used is called cubism because all the objects and items used in the artwork are made of geometrical irregular and regular polygons. Moving forward we were advised to draw big and use the amount of space given to make the artwork clear and visually appealing. After done drawing the draft of our actual artwork we were given a card paper to draw the drawing again. But there was a twist, we had to split the drawing into 3-4 parts in any way, shape or form. The last step in the making, we had to stick the 3 parts on cardboard to make it look 3 Dimensional.

Inspiration

Term 2 reflection:

This term we were learning about portraits, the different types and what makes a good portrait. The 3 portraits we created this term was the 3/4 portrait, the symbols portrait and the regular portrait. Our first portrait we made was the symbols portrait, we had to answer a series of questions to fully complete the portrait (e.g. what are you afraid of, what do you want to be when you grow up, what is your prize possession, etc). It was hard for me to draw the silhouette/ base of the portrait because you weren't allowed to drowned facial features and it had to simple and a specific size. It was also hard to answer all the questions and fit them all into one small and simple base. I think i did well because i washable to add colour,  find the symbols to answer this questions and to fit all the symbols so it could make a story. Our second assessment was the regular portrait, we had to follow a video and create a self portrait. It was hard to replicate my face through a drawing because I'm not that good with drawing facial features and humans. It was also hard because I'm not that experienced with drawing self portraits especially of my self where i have to make it up and not have inspiration. I think i did good because i was able to do a self portrait and i was able to replicate my face through a drawing without any inspiration. Our third assessment was the 3/4 portrait, we had to follow a video and draw a 3/4 self portrait. I think i did good because i was able to recreate the 3/4 self portrait effect and i was able to follow the video for creating the 3/4 self portrait. It was hard for me to make the self portrait look like a girl cause it looked really masculine.
